Der fröhliche und optimistische Schwamm SpongeBob lebt in der Unterwasser-Stadt Bikini Bottom. Er arbeitet als Koch im Fast-Food-Restaurant "Die Krosse Krabbe", das dem geldgierigen Mister Krabs gehört. Seine Freunde sind der naive See-Stern Patrick, der übel-launige Tinten-Fisch Thaddäus und das kluge Eichhörnchen Sandy. Gemeinsam erleben sie viele verrückte Abenteuer. Dabei geht es oft um Freundschaft, Zusammenhalt und die Freude am Leben.
